Fort Militar

The ruins of Spanish fort are the beautiful historical landmark of Tukuran which was created during the Spanish colonization in the country way back century ago.  These old fort is located at barangay Militar which overlook the plain in the southwest where the poblacion of Tukuran is located and the clear blue water of Illana Bay in the south.  There are four forts in the area which were scattered in different strategic places.

        The municipality of Tukuran is declared as tourism zone in the province of Zamboanga del Sur because of its several tourist destinations.  The local government of Tukuran proposed to restore the Fort Militar because it can be a destination for educational tours.  It is also important that the Fort be restored to establish once again the historical landmark that made Tukuran part of the Philippine history.  The municipality also wanted to set-up various building facilities for sports, goodie shops and room accommodations for the convenience of visiting tourists.  Although the project entails a lot of cost but the municipality expected greater economic return if this project will be fully materialized and developed.
